ANSA is a preprocessing tool in Finite Element Analyses. It is capable in all fields and disciplines
where the Finite Element Method is used. Its application in plastics injection molding through its
innovative and effective functionality offers the opportunity to engineers to greatly facilitate their
work and produce optimum results. ANSA functionality aims to cover the whole procedure of FE
model creation, from reading the CAD file to producing a ready to solve file. This tutorial is
concentrated on the procedure followed in ANSA to prepare a model for plastics injection molding
simulation with Moldex3D.
Reading the first 3 chapters of User’s Guide is recommended in order to obtain a familiarization
with the ANSA interface and terminology.
In this tutorial, a toycar geometry is going to be used in order to show how a model is prepared
inside ANSA for Moldex 3D simulations. The tutorial is separated in 3 different parts so that all
three different cases of model setup is going to be demonstrated:
– Standard Cool setup
– Fast Cool setup
– Shell setup
