CATIA Training – Composites Grid Design

Composites Grid Design (CGD) is a new workbench in CATIA . It is specifically used to design Composites using the Grid Approach.

It is a new approach implemented using a set of new commands enabling a better link between stress analysis and composites design. It takes into consideration the structural elements (such as stiffeners, strings, frames, etc…) used during composites design.

It is used to design some specific composite parts such as panels for wing design or fuselage design, but not every composite part.

The Composites Grid Design workbench has many interactive tools. They are used to create different thickness areas throughout a surface, while designing a composite part.

You cannot convert a part that is designed using the Composites Grid Design approach to a part designed using the Zone to Ply approach and vice versa.
